Sildenafil
citrate is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction of either organic or
psychogenic cause and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It was developed by
the pharmaceutical company Pfizer® and sold as Viagra, Revatio and under
other trade names.
Since the 1998, sildenafil has been the most
popular treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Sildenafil citrate is a white
powder with a molecular weight of 666.7.a solubility of 3.5 mg/mL in water.
Tablets have rounded-diamond shape and
are equivalent to 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg of sildenafil for oral
administration.
Beside the active ingredient
there are: magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose
sodium, hypromellose, triacetin, anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate,
lactose, titanium dioxide and and FD & C Blue #2 aluminum lake.
